About the Puja
Guru (Jupiter) Puja and Yajna is a sacred Vedic ritual dedicated to Lord Brihaspati, the divine teacher of the gods and the embodiment of wisdom, purity, and auspiciousness.With the grace of Guru Deva—the guide of dharma and the bestower of knowledge—one’s spiritual journey becomes complete. This puja is performed to mitigate these negative effects and to bring peace, stability, good fortune, and positive energy into one’s life.
Traditional Associations — Guru (Jupiter) Puja
Symbolism: Guru Deva symbolizes divine knowledge and intelligence, righteousness, ethics, truth, and spiritual guidance, as well as auspiciousness, prosperity, and expansion, while removing ignorance and confusion. His blessings bring clarity, good fortune, positivity, and balanced growth into the life of the devotee.
Mantra: “Om devanam ch rishinam ch guru kanchan sannibham , buddhibhutm trilokeshm tam namami brihaspatim” Chanting this mantra is believed to invoke Guru Deva’s blessings for wisdom, prosperity, clarity, and spiritual evolution.
Cultural Note: Guru Puja is traditionally associated with knowledge, dharma, prosperity, and divine guidance. Worshipping Brihaspati Deva is believed to remove obstacles caused by Jupiter afflictions, enhance luck and positivity, promote financial growth, and improve learning, judgment, and spiritual progress.
Puja Procedure (Traditional)
The Guru Puja begins with Swasti Vachan and Shanti Path, followed by the Sankalp (the statement of intent). After this, the recitation of the Guru Stotram and the chanting of Guru mantras is performed. Offerings are made into the sacred fire using ghee, honey, turmeric, yellow rice, chana dal, and other traditional ingredients. In this worship, other deities such as Lord Ganesha, Goddess Lakshmi, Kalash Narayana, the Navagrahas, devraj indra and brahma , and Mahamrityunjaya Rudra are also invoked. The entire ritual is performed according to traditional Vedic procedures, including the homam, aarti, Navagraha Shanti, and Kalash Puja .
